Announcement: Peter Sinclair

Following a brief period of illness due to Covid-19, Professor Peter Sinclair passed away on 31 March 2020, at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

We heard this morning the very sad news that Peter Sinclair, who we all knew well and appreciated so much, died yesterday due to Covid-19. I know that some MMF members will be aware of the news already, but others might not be aware. Peter taught many generations of academics in Oxford and Birmingham. He was a thoughtful scholarly man, and as such he was a great asset to the MMF, giving freely of his time by serving on the Committee, and most recently by delivering the MMF Lecture at Edinburgh in 2018. Perhaps the best indication of his generosity was his commitment – every year without fail – to the PhD conference, where he listened intently and offered constructive comments in his characteristically friendly manner. We will greatly miss him and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
